Estate & house clearance
Deceased estate clearance in Double Bay
Clearing a parent's or a partner's home is not a rubbish job, and we don't treat it like one. This page is written more slowly than the rest of our site, because the work is done more slowly too.
How a house clearance works, at your pace
There is no schedule here but yours. Some families want a single day and a finished house; some want three visits a month apart, with time between to sit with decisions. Both are normal. Both are fine.
The shape of the work, whenever you're ready for it:
- A quiet walk-through first. One of us, not a crew. You show us the house, tell us what you know should stay, and we listen more than we talk. You get a fixed arrangement for the whole clearance before anything begins.
- Sentimental things set aside. Photographs, letters, jewellery boxes, the drawer of papers that might matter: anything we find that looks personal is set aside for you, never assumed to be rubbish. We would rather set aside too much than too little.
- Things that deserve a next life, offered one. Good furniture, clothing and books go to donation where they're genuinely fit for it. We tell you honestly which items charities will take, because a skip pretending to be a donation helps nobody.
- The rest, managed properly. Sorted and taken to the right facilities, the same careful way we handle every load.
- The house left ready. Swept, empty, and ready for whatever comes next: the agent, the settlement, the family's own next chapter.
If the home is in an apartment building
Many of the estates we clear around here are apartments. We handle the building quietly: the manager spoken to, the lift padded, neighbours undisturbed. Nothing about the work is visible from the street, because a family's business is nobody else's.
For executors and family at a distance
If you're managing an estate from interstate or overseas, we can work with your solicitor or the agent for access, send photographs as rooms are finished, and hold anything set aside until you decide where it should go. You stay in charge of every decision without needing to be in the room for it.
When you're ready, tell us a little about the house. There's no hurry on our side, and there never will be.
